Calistoga Police Chief Mitch Celaya Endorses Jon Crawford for Sheriff

July 6, 2021

Napa, CA – Undersheriff Jon Crawford (ret.) has received the endorsement of Calistoga Police Chief Mitch Celaya in his race for Napa County Sheriff in 2022.

Chief Celaya has led the Calistoga Police Department for almost a decade and is a key partner of the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Celaya announced his support stating “I have worked with Jon and observed him consistently demonstrate his leadership, dedication, commitment, and service to his department, the county, and the community. He has been a great partner and I wholeheartedly support Jon as the next Sheriff of Napa County.”

Jon Crawford began his career with the Napa County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. Over the past two decades, Crawford has worked his way up the ranks, overseeing the Community Services Bureau, Investigations Bureau, and operations in the Town of Yountville. In 2016, Crawford was promoted to Lieutenant and shortly after promoted to Captain. For the past three years, Crawford oversaw the day-to-day operations of the department as Undersheriff.

Since announcing his campaign, Crawford was fired from his longtime role as Undersheriff. In spite of the petty politics that drove that decision, community leaders have rallied around Crawford’s campaign. Crawford has received the support of Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley, former Napa Mayor Jill Techel, Napa Councilmember Mary Luros, former sheriff Gary Simpson, and more.

Crawford is running for Napa County Sheriff in the 2022 Primary Election. For a full list of endorsements and more information, visit
