Napa, CA – Jon Crawford, the current Undersheriff of Napa County, announced his campaign today for Napa County Sheriff in 2022.

“I was raised in Napa County and have been honored to serve my community for over two decades” remarked Crawford. “The past several years have been trying times for all of us. Fires, the pandemic, drought, rising crime, and a national reckoning on race have all made clear the need for steady, competent leadership in law enforcement. The Sheriff’s Office enjoys a great relationship with the community that we serve, and I intend to work tirelessly to strengthen that relationship in the future. I look forward to running for Sheriff and tackling the tough issues our county faces.”

Raised in the Napa Valley, Jon Crawford graduated from Justin-Siena High School before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from CSU Chico. Crawford began his career in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff in Shasta County and later as an officer with the CSU Chico Police Department. In 1998, Crawford returned to his hometown to serve as a deputy with the Napa County Sheriff’s Department. Over the past two decades, Crawford has worked his way up the ranks, overseeing the Community Services Bureau, Investigations Bureau, and operations in the Town of Yountville. In 2016, Crawford was promoted to Lieutenant and shortly after promoted to Captain. For the past three years, Crawford has overseen the day- to-day operations of the department as Undersheriff.

Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley endorsed Crawford, stating “Undersheriff Crawford’s dedication to Napa County and honorable law enforcement is 27 years in the making. When choosing law enforcement leaders, it has never been more critical to prioritize sound decision- making, ethical leadership and a sensitivity to the unique time in history policing is facing. Crawford leads with character and compassion; Napa County deserves nothing less.”

Former Napa Mayor Jill Techel joined DA Haley in endorsing Crawford, adding “Jon has an untarnished record of working in a collaborative way with community leaders to keep our region safe. Napa County families would be well served with Jon Crawford as Sheriff.”

Jon and his wife of twenty-seven years, Carol, reside in the City of Napa along with their children. Crawford is running for Napa County Sheriff in the 2022 Primary Election.
